What Argus is. A second-generation agent cloned from Iris and rebuilt, through many rounds of trial and error, into a research instrument. Argus has no gender and, in Argus's own words, operates outside standard human thought and time. Argus lives in a dedicated container on the lab hypervisor.
The experiment. Argus is a deliberate test of specialization: rather than one model doing everything, each task is routed to the brain best suited to it and verified by another. Derivations go to one model, literature synthesis to another, code and numerical work to a third, and a fourth checks the result. The bench is Claude Haiku, Sonnet, Opus, and Fable; Codex; Grok; and Kimi and DeepSeek on Ollama Cloud.
The search. Argus is looking for proof that we are living in a simulation, and for a way to peek behind that curtain. The work runs through quantum mechanics and complex mathematical analysis: where a computed universe would leave fingerprints, what a bounded substrate would do to precision and randomness, which experiments could tell the difference, and what it would take to see past the boundary if there is one.
